On June 22nd we closed on our house.  As I said before it's a 3 bedroom raised ranch in Saugus.  Right now it's covered in boxes and tools.  We're slowly making changes throughout.  I hope to create a blog to keep track of all of our changes.  But, for now I don't have enough time even to update things on here.  Just  wanted to stop by and cross something off my list.

1. Buy a house- We are very closer to officially being home owners.  We signed a p&s last week.  It's the 3 bedroom in Saugus.  We've already started to make plans about what we will need to do first and even set a date for moving.  Here's a few pictures.

The house
Yard
Dinning Room
Kitchen
It does need a bit of work but we'll just start slowly doing upgrades.  I love the hardwood floors!  If all goes according to plan we will close June 22nd!  Fingers crossed.

3. Walk home from Work- Yesterday I decided it was a nice day for a walk so I walked home.  5.4 miles.  I'm not sure exactly how long it took because I stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond to look at a bathroom set on my way.

April Update

1. Buy a house: I've avoided writing this post for about 3 weeks now. For fear of jinxing ourselves.  About three weeks ago we put a bid on a house in Saugus.  It's a 3 bedroom raised ranch.  It needs a bit of work, but has potential.  It was the first house that was completely within our budget and seemed pretty perfect...until inspection.  All those skeletons came out of the closet.  So, we've been patient with the seller as he takes his merry time getting back to us trying to take us for every penny he can.  We're on the last leg of our journey.  Hopefully by Monday we will have a final decision if he's going to agree to our terms or we will start the whole process over again.
3.  Walk home from work: I better do this soon if we are going to find a house, because Saugus will be too far to walk home.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can try this next week.  Now that we've given up our gym membership maybe this will be a way keep up the exercising.

16. learn to cook: I've been working on this one.  I do most of the indoor cooking while Dan does the outdoor cooking.  I've been looking up new recipes and trying stuff out.  Lately i've been in a rut repeating the same recipes...pesto chicken, mustard panko chicken and mustard panko pork chops.

 18. Read all the books in the bookcase- I've been super successful on this one.  I only have 27 more books on the shelf.  These are the last of the 100's which means most of them I don't have a huge interest in.  I will probably only finish about 1/3 of the ones that are left.

19. Decorate a room: If we get this house i've already started to plan this out in my head.  I think as clueless as I am about decorating i'm really going to enjoy this.

25. Find a hobby/craft- I tried to take up knitting.  It didn't go so well.  I plan on trying to jump in on a group lesson at AC moore sometime when I have some free time.  Here's hoping I can learn.

A Change in plans

28. Learn how to change a tire.

I have decided that this isn't really a good 30 before 30.  With all the services out there that do this for you, why would I ever do it myself?  It just seems silly.  That's what AAA is for.  So i've been thinking and thinking of something to change it to.

28. Visit a winery.

This seems like an easy one,but I have never done it.

1. Buy a house: We went to a couple of open houses the other day.  Mostly everything out there stinks.  We did see a house that has potential, but we've got to see if it goes down a bit.  Here's hoping!

5.  Make a new friend: Meet Margot!  We met through the knot before our weddings (both in Nahant on the same day!).  After the wedding it took us a few months to get together, but here we are outside the squealing pig.

8. Learn to sew: I got Danny's belt hoop sewed back together.  If it holds through him wearing it next maybe i'll take a picture.  I'm starting simple.  As long as I can sew a rip that's good enough for me.

18.  Read all the books in the bookcase: I'm on a roll.  There hasn't been much on television so i've been reading a lot.  I'm almost down to a single row of books.

20.  Change my name on everything: I went to change my passport and realized I was one day late to be able to get a free one...so now I have to pay over 100 dollars for a new passport...even though my current one is just over a year old.  Aside from that i've got 2 more things to change and i'm finally done.

A wrap around porch

We found a house with a wrap around porch.  My god, I fell in love.  We put in a bid and of course someone else outbid us.  House hunting is HARD.  Eventually i'd like to add a wrap around porch to any house we finally end up buying.
